We are attending many events to promote our artistists throughout the world, during the coming months. Pease let’s meet up at Womex 2010 in Copenhagen.

WITH US THEY’LL COME

>>> MATRIMIA/ from Sicily / balkan

The sound of Matrimia is a singular mix of Tzigan, Balkan, Arab and Jewish sound, with manouche & jazz influences, “chanson Française” and Mediterranean too. The name Matrimia! (in Italian means Mamma mia!) is a Sicilian slang to say “Oh my God!”: it’s like something that leaves you incredulous and breathless exactly like their gigs, amusing, humorous and sophisticated at the same time. The original cell of Matrimia is Daniele Tesauro, the accordion player and  Giacomo Di Domenico, the drummer to which are added on the French-Algerian singer Davy Deglave, the guitarist & buzukist Gero Pitanza, the charismatic clarinettist Dario Compagna and the bassist programmer and productor Roberto Ferreri. Their new release Zivili (“cheers!”), sounds contemporary and cool: the huge collaboration with the Dutch double bass Marko Bonarius and the Swiss-Siciliano violin Larsen Genovese are precious to invent a new world Balkan tradition.

>>> JOVINE / from Naples / reggae

The brainchild of singer and songwriter Valerio Jovine — though he received a lot of help from his brother, Massimo (best known as the bass-playing JPM 99 Posse.
Jovine formed in Naples, Italy, in 1998. A single of theirs, “Cambia la Storia,” was included on a compilation put out by BMG shortly after their inception, and soon the band, with help from bassist Cico Quintavalle and DJ Danilo Vigorito, got to work on its debut full-length, issuing Contagiato in 2000. Two years later they entered the studio again to start preparing their next effort. Inspired by the sounds of reggae, Jovine tapped into the talents of guitarist Francesco Spadafora, trumpeter Michele Acanforo, bassist Alessandro Aspide, and drummer Guido Amalfitano, spending over a year on the road, touring around Italy and Switzerland, before releasing Ora in 2005. In 2007 Senza Limiti, another reggae-inspired album, though dub, electronica, and jazz influences were also heard, came out. ~ Marisa Brown, Rovi
